Maureen Denise McCormick, youngest daughter and sole daughter from Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills on 5 August 1956. Her mother was at her house and aspiring to be a stay-at-home-mom. Michael, Dennis and Kevin are her oldest brothers. McCormick started dancing and singing in her early years and often performed puppet shows for children in her community. When McCormick was 6, she won an award called Baby Miss San Fernando Valley. The Jack Wormser Agency then contacted her and asked whether she would like to enter the show business. McCormick landed her first major work in 1964 as she appeared in an advertisement on television for Mattel's new doll "Baby Pattaburp." The following year, she starred in another commercial for the company's "Chatty the Cathy" doll, and soon was cast in the play"Wind It Up and It breaks, which was staged in the Playhouse at La Jolla Playhouse. McCormick auditioned for a role in 'The Brady Bunch.' She was selected from over 1200 children who auditioned to play the older of the twins on the TV program The Brady Bunch. Florence Henderson starred as the newlyweds and Robert Reed, the blended family. It lasted five years. McCormick revealed in Here's the tale: How I Survived Marcia Brady, and Finding My True Voice (published 2008) that it was in her fifth-season of the TV show that she was close to losing her virginity. In 2008, McCormick revealed in her book Here's The Truth: Surviving the Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice during season five on the show, she almost lost her virginity to actor Barry Williams. "It was supposed to happen," said the woman, "but it never happened at the right time for us."
